Prague in Spring: The Best Things to Do from March to May

Spring in Prague is a time of blooming parks, outdoor adventures, and the city coming back to life after winter. Between March and the end of May, the weather gets warmer, the days grow longer, and there’s no shortage of things to see and do. But what are the best places to visit and experiences to have to truly capture the magic of Prague in spring? Here’s our ultimate guide to making the most of spring in Prague.

The city’s famous Easter markets pop up in March and April (this year around 20th April), filling Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square with colorful wooden stalls selling handcrafted goods, traditional Czech treats, and beautifully decorated Easter eggs.

Spring also brings a lively cultural scene, with outdoor concerts, festivals, and events making the most of the mild temperatures and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re into history, nature, or exploring off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods, Prague has something for everyone:

Explore Prague’s Beautiful Parks and Gardens

As the flowers start blooming, Prague’s parks and gardens become the perfect spots to relax and soak up the sunshine.

  • Letná Park: Famous for its panoramic views of the city, Letná Park is a local favorite. In spring, it’s the perfect place for a walk, a picnic, or a stop at one of the beer gardens opening up for the season. You can even plan a walk around Prague Castle to get to another city center park called Petřín and its famous lookout tower.

  • Vinohrady: Known for its Art Nouveau architecture, trendy cafes, and laid-back vibe. The parks here, like Riegrovy Sady, offer amazing sunset views.

*Historical fact: While we celebrate the beauty of spring in Prague, it’s also important to remember the historic Prague Spring of 1968 — a period of political liberalization and reform in then-Czechoslovakia. Led by Alexander Dubček, this movement aimed to create „socialism with a human face,“ promoting greater freedom of speech and press. Unfortunately, it was crushed by the invasion of Soviet-led Warsaw Pact troops in August 1968. Today, the Prague Spring remains a powerful symbol of the country’s desire for democracy and freedom — values that continue to shape Czech society. (watch the two part series here)
